Island Tour: Murano, Burano, Torcello
We'll enjoy a panoramic tour of the islands of Venice, a day trip around the northern lagoon to visit Murano, Burano, and Torcello. After a beautiful boat ride across the lagoon, we'll make our first stop at Murano, the island of glass, world-famous for its glassmaking. We'll visit a foundry to watch a demonstration of traditional glassblowing techniques. We'll spend about 1 hour and 15 minutes in Murano.
We'll head to Burano, the jewel of the lagoon, known for its colorful houses and artisanal lacework. We'll stroll through the "calli" (seaside villages) and watch the lacemakers at work. We'll spend more time on Burano, arriving around lunchtime, when we can choose a typical restaurant for a quick bite or browse the lace shops. We'll spend about 1 hour and 30 minutes on the island.
Finally, we'll visit Torcello, the most tranquil island and the lagoon's first center of civilization. There, we'll explore its ancient churches and learn about the origins of Venice. We'll spend approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes on Torcello.
On the way back, we will sail across the lagoon, enjoying the panoramic view of St. Mark's Basin, where we can take beautiful photos of Venice and its surroundings.
