Venice: Self-Guided Discovery Package

The gondola is one of the most important symbols of Venice, emblematic of both the famous city of water and its mysterious origins. Few people know that in its early days, this unique vessel was different from what we admire today, evolving over time, along with the city it is associated with. Naturally, the history of the gondola is largely limited to Venice. Considered one of the most beautiful and elegant boats on Earth, it is built using unique techniques, and each part also has symbolic meanings. For example, its multi-toothed ironwork, or prow, has five or six pettini, symbolic of the six sestieri into which Venice is divided. This ironwork's function is to balance the gondoliere's weight, and its S shape evokes the flow of the Grand Canal. Not only elegance and beauty, but a whole world embodied in this boat, today a symbol of Venice. Let yourself experience the gondola firsthand through this tour. A charming and relaxing way to enjoy the colors, lights, views, charm, and beauty of Venice. We'll admire elegant bank-side palaces and unique bridges, and breathe in the enchanting and magical atmosphere that only a city built on water can offer. Advisory assistance will be provided, but no commentary is included during the tour. We'll take a seat in the gondola (max 5 people per gondola, shared) and let the local gondolier, in his distinctive blue and white striped shirt, take us along Venice's hidden canals. Please note that it is a shared gondola (up to 5 people each) so the gondola may be shared with other people. Notes: * Meeting point: Calle Larga Ascensione in front of the Post Office behind St. Mark's Square 15 minutes before the tour departure time * Please note that it is a shared gondola (up to 5 people each) so the gondola can be shared with other people * Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended * Please take some water with you, especially during hot days. * Please note that no refunds will be accepted for no-shows or late arrivals. The Gondola Ride will also take place in the rain, but in case of very heavy rain, it may be canceled and the tour will be refunded (if not rescheduled for another day/time). * Please be aware that starting April 25th and on certain dates, registration and payment of an access fee will be required to visit the city of Venice. We encourage you to check all the information and registration or payment procedures on the dedicated website of the Municipality of Venice https://cda.veneziaunica.it/en
