Strolling along the same street, you will admire the temple of Bom Jesus da Cruz, built in 1704 and covered with legends. The next landmark we'll explore is the Church of Nossa Senhora do Terço, where the simple exterior architecture disguises the rich interior.
You will cross the Market Field, where one of the most ancient and traditional markets takes place once a week. Leaving behind the Municipal Art Gallery and the Pottery Museum – which is worth a visit, as it houses a unique collection of pottery and ceramics from Portuguese-speaking countries and all over the world – you will step on a 14th-century bridge that is classified as a national monument.
Continuing the journey, you will see the Gothic building of the Barcelos' Archaeological Museum and learn the fantastic local legend of the rooster, which is immortalized in the famous Rooster's Stone Cross.
The tour will end in the main street of Barcelos, leaving you free to choose any direction for a further walk. Let the charm of the city's medieval heritage envelop you!
