Guided tour of Zhu Jia Jiao's main tourist attractions
Zhujiajiao, a city crisscrossed by canals, boasts over 1,700 years of history and is described by guides as "the Venice of the East." The comparison is somewhat exaggerated, but the visit is enchanting. The local population lives and works in wooden houses built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The city is connected by small, romantic bridges. Temples and gardens of the nobility, now museums, are among Zhujiajiao's main attractions, as are the restaurants, very popular with the Chinese themselves. Red lanterns illuminate the area. It's a welcome relief for those who feel suffocated by the pollution and skyscrapers of Shanghai. I am not an official guide and cannot accompany you inside museums or places that legally require an official guide.
