Singapore, the ultimate food walk
A partially educational and food-based tour of Singapore: belachan, keropok, and spices. Then, a behind-the-scenes tour of the curry puff factory and DIY popiah making.
ITINERARY
This isn't just a food tour. There's a lot of food involved, yes. But it's also about the beloved wet markets and hawker centers, the origins and heritage of foods like local coffee, belachan, and roti prata, and how some things came to be.
We start with food, of course. You'll be taken to a hawker center to sample the best of the best local dishes. At a local wet market, you'll be introduced to local ingredients and how they're used in familiar dishes.
Next, an intimate visit to two family-owned shops/factories to get a behind-the-scenes look at the local food industry. More food! Then, before you know it, it's a hands-on popiah-rolling session and lunch.
We start with sweets and end with sweets, and what better food than the beloved putu piring! Of course, we're not bringing you here to just try any old putu piring. But this is undoubtedly Singaporeans' favorite putu piring stall. You can watch it being made right before your eyes and eat as much as you want.
So come with an empty stomach and a thirst for an in-depth gastronomic journey through Singaporean food.
