Departing Edinburgh, our Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands tour continues to Stirling, where you&#39;ll see Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. We then continue to Callander for breakfast in this bustling town known as the gateway to the Highlands. The bus then heads north into the Highlands, passing Rannoch Moor, before stopping at the dark and brooding Glencoe Pass, a beautiful photo spot and where your driver/guide will tell you the chilling story of the infamous massacre of 1692. After crossing Loch Leven at Ballachulish, we&#39;ll stop for lunch near Fort William before following the Caledonian Canal through the Great Glen to Fort Augustus and Loch Ness. Here, you can sail the loch for about an hour on the award-winning Loch Ness Cruise, or enjoy the scenery of the tranquil lakeside village. Please note that this portion of the tour may be subject to change due to weather conditions during the winter months. After a stop at Fort Augustus and Loch Ness, the tour returns to Edinburgh. We&#39;ll pass Loch Laggan, the setting for the internationally acclaimed television show &#39;Monarch of the Glen,&#39; before stopping in picturesque Pitlochry, a charming Victorian resort town. Passing through Perth and the Kingdom of Fife, we&#39;ll cross the Forth Crossing along the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge, before arriving in Scotland&#39;s capital with a million memories and photos. Loch Ness and the Scottish Mountains

Leaving Edinburgh, the first stop on your Loch Lomond, Highlands, and Stirling Castle tour will be the Kelpies. Admire these shape-shifting aquatic creatures and learn about their origins. We&#39;ll continue our journey west to the shores of Loch Lomond, Britain&#39;s largest body of freshwater. There, you&#39;ll have time for a boat trip or to explore the Loch Lomond and Trossachs region. Recently designated a National Park, it&#39;s a place where the magnificent landscape has captured the imagination of writers and artists for centuries. We&#39;ll continue on to our lunch stop in the village of Aberfoyle, the gateway to the Trossachs. With its lakes, valleys, and heather-covered mountains, this area is known as &quot;the Highlands in Miniature&quot; and was a favorite destination of Sir Walter Scott. The location was used as the setting for the films adapted from his books &quot;Rob Roy&quot; and &quot;The Lady of the Lake.&quot; Continuing, we pass through the town of Callander and pass Doune Castle, which appeared in the film &quot;Monty Python and the Holy Grail.&quot; Next, we head towards Stirling. Perched atop a volcanic rock, sits the historic Stirling Castle, where we&#39;ll stop for at least an hour so you can stroll through the gardens or perhaps enjoy a drink at the Castle&#39;s Unicorn Café. Its name comes from the many statues and other representations of unicorns that can be seen around the castle. With stunning views of the Vale of Forth, site of William Wallace&#39;s famous victory in 1297, and, of course, the Wallace Monument—a 200-foot-tall tribute to the man immortalized in the film &quot;Braveheart,&quot; Stirling Castle is one of Scotland&#39;s grandest castles due to its imposing position and stunning architecture. The scenery is breathtaking. Heading south, you&#39;ll enjoy a relaxing drive home listening to Scottish music as you pass Bannockburn, the scene of Robert the Bruce&#39;s famous victory over the English in 1314, and Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots in 1542. Notes: If you wish to visit inside Stirling Castle, tickets must be pre-booked directly with Historic Scotland* Return Transfer: It is not possible to guarantee that the return location will be restored, but it depends on the route back to the city. Your tour will depart early in the morning from The Elephant House, 21 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EN, from where you&#39;ll travel northwest to Fort William to meet the Jacobite Steam Train, affectionately known to all of us as the Hogwarts Express. Your guide will point out some of the key filming locations used in all eight films along the way. Please note that we typically travel on the Fort William-Mallaig train, but on some dates, the train may run from Mallaig to Fort William. Strolling through Rannoch Moor, one of Scotland&#39;s largest wilderness areas, you&#39;ll see the rugged wilderness where the Death Eaters boarded the train in the film Deathly Hallows - Part One. Next, we&#39;ll take you through the eerie Glencoe Pass, which served as a backdrop for several scenes from the third film onward. This famous and dramatic volcanic valley appeared in several background scenes in The Prisoner of Azkaban, including the scene where Hermione punches Malfoy. In Fort William, you&#39;ll board the Jacobite Steam Train for the world&#39;s longest rail journey. It&#39;s the perfect way to see some famous film locations—just as Harry and his friends did. A highlight of the trip is crossing the magnificent 21-arch Victoria Glenfinnan Viaduct. One of the most iconic images from the films is the Jacobite Steam Train, known to all as the &quot;Hogwarts Express,&quot; passing Glenfinnan Viaduct on its way to school. Remember to watch out for flying cars! While enjoying the view of Loch Shiel (first seen in Chamber of Secrets) from your window, you may have time for the train to stop at the viaduct, allowing you to take photos of the magnificent view and imagine yourself in the film The Prisoner of Azkaban, when Harry encounters a Dementor for the first time as the Hogwarts Express stops at the bridge. The train will then stop at Glenfinnan station so you can stretch your legs and, if you wish, visit the West Highland Railway Museum, located in the restored station building. Keep an eye out for the stunning Loch Shiel near Glenfinnan, one of two lakes used as a stand-in for Hogwarts Lake in the Harry Potter films. It&#39;s where Buckbeak dips his toe in The Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry and Hermione also observe it from the Astronomy Tower in a particularly beautiful scene at the end of The Half-Blood Prince. Loch Shiel was also transformed for some Triwizard Tournament scenes in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Next, you&#39;ll see the small island of Eilean na Moine, which housed Dumbledore&#39;s Tomb and is framed by Loch Eilt, used several times in the film, including as the setting for the bridge to Hogwarts and the location of Hagrid&#39;s hut. Upon reaching the fishing village of Mallaig, with its ferry route to the Isle of Skye (from which you can see it on a clear day), you&#39;ll take a break from site-seeing to enjoy some free time in the village, with a variety of lunch options. From Mallaig, you&#39;ll reboard the coach, where we&#39;ll stop at the Glenfinnan visitor center for a prime photographic opportunity of the steam train returning over the viaduct, before returning to Edinburgh via Pitlochry. Several parts of Culross are used to represent the village of Cranesmuir, predominantly in the first season of Outlander. During your time here, you&#39;ll see many of the scenes come to life as you enter the show&#39;s actual filming location. Explore Blackness Castle, the rich history within its walls, and learn about its multifaceted history as a stately residence, garrison fortress, and state prison. Outlander fans may also recognize the exterior as Fort William, the headquarters of the sinister Black Jack Randall. The tour continues to the town of Linlithgow, famous for its palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Here, Outlander fans have the opportunity to see Linlithgow Palace, used as the setting for the infamous Wentworth Prison in Outlander. Linlithgow Palace is where Jamie from Outlander was held prisoner and tortured by Black Jack Randall, one of the most intense scenes filmed during the television series. Take some time for refreshments/lunch here and explore before the next stop. Our last location of the day, Midhope Castle, is a must-see for Outlander fans. Midhope Castle is the outdoor location of the Fraser family home, known as Lallybroch. Spend some time at the castle to take photos and live out your Outlander fantasy. When you return to Edinburgh, ask for directions to Bakehouse Close, a location featured in the third series of Outlander as Jamie&#39;s printing house. Your stop in Glencoe, one of the most famous natural landmarks in all of Scotland. This beautiful region boasts steep slopes and photogenic peaks. Your driver-guide will reveal the tragic history that has haunted this valley for over 300 years. Next, you&#39;ll enter the glacial valley known as the Great Glen and pass under the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain&#39;s highest mountain. After this visual feast of imposing climbs, you arrive at Fort Augustus, on the shores of Loch Ness. At 37 kilometers long and over 213 meters deep, Loch Ness is the largest lake in Scotland by volume. You&#39;ll have about an hour and a half here. You can search for the infamous monster on a relaxing boat ride, stroll the lakeshore at your own pace, and grab a bite to eat. Your journey south is filled with classic Highland scenery. You&#39;ll pass through the winding Cairngorms National Park, along Loch Laggan, and past Blair Castle. Among the tall trees of Perthshire, you&#39;ll stop for a final snack before heading back to Edinburgh over the UNESCO-listed Forth Railway Bridge. The alluring beauty makes it easy to forget that this place was once a battleground for the fiercely territorial Highland clans. Traveling north through Breadalbane (meaning the Scottish Highlands), you ascend towards Rannoch Moor. This 300-meter plain is covered in heather, peat bogs, and dozens of lochs. You&#39;ll love the contrast with the spectacular mountainous landscape of Buachaille Etive Mor (meaning the great shepherd of Etive). Next, descend to Scotland&#39;s most famous glen, Glencoe, where you&#39;ll be captivated by the beautiful cliffs and steep slopes. After Glencoe, you enter a deep glacial valley known as the Great Glen. Passing through the town of Fort William, you&#39;ll pass beneath Britain&#39;s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before reaching Fort Augustus, on the shores of Loch Ness. Secrets of the Royal Mile

Board your minibus and get ready for a full day of adventure. As you begin your journey into the Highlands, you&#39;ll see the incredible Forth Railway Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, you&#39;ll have time to grab a coffee or some delicious homemade cakes in the beautiful Highland town of Pitlochry. Enjoy the stunning scenery as you travel through the spectacular wilderness of Cairngorms National Park. Loch Ness is rightly famous worldwide for its beauty and mystery. Here, you&#39;ll have the opportunity to enjoy a boat cruise* to spot monsters in the loch&#39;s deepest waters, all the way to Urquhart Castle*, where you&#39;ll have time to visit this impressive lakeside ruin. If cruises aren&#39;t your thing, we&#39;ll continue on to the village of Drumnadrochit, home to several tourist attractions and lunch options—the best place to meet Nessie. Glen Coe is eerily beautiful and rich in history. Standing at the mouth of the valley, you&#39;ll feel the past come to life as our guide recounts the horrific massacre of the MacDonald clan. The route home takes you past the beautiful city of Stirling and its stunning castle. You&#39;ll learn more about William Wallace&#39;s exploits, dramatized in the film Braveheart, and the turbulent times in which he lived. Please note this tour may operate in reverse. Notes: *The Loch Ness cruise and Urquhart Castle visit are additional extras and are subject to availability. - Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). - Children under 3 years old are not allowed on the minibus. - Please bring sunglasses, plenty of layers of clothing, shoes suitable for short walks on rough or uneven terrain, and clothing suitable for all weather conditions. - You can bring one piece of cabin-sized luggage: 55cm x 40cm x 20cm (not exceeding 15kg) and one small carry-on bag.

Lago Ness, Glen Coe e Highlands

As you drive northeast from Edinburgh, you&#39;ll marvel at the engineering feat of The Kelpies, two 30-meter-tall horse-head sculptures. Then, as you travel through Stirlingshire, our guide will bring to life the turbulent times of William Wallace—dramatized in the film Braveheart—and explain his connection to the countryside you&#39;re passing through. We&#39;ll stop in the beautiful city of Stirling for about two hours. This gives you plenty of time to explore the stunning castle* or stroll the beautiful old streets that surround it. You&#39;ll experience spectacular views of Loch Lomond &amp; Trossachs National Park, home of the Highland outlaw Rob Roy. We visit the pretty lochside village of Balmaha, where you can take a short but steep walk to Craigie Fort for stunning views of the loch, or you can enjoy the beautiful shores on flat ground. Our final stop will be at one of Scotland&#39;s fantastic distilleries, Auchentoshan*. Here you can learn the process of how they create the perfect drink and even sample some! Before we head back to Edinburgh.
