LAVA Centre: Entry Ticket

Iceland was born from volcanoes, and the Lava Centre shows you how. This interactive exhibition takes you through the volcanic and seismic forces that shaped the island, from activity millions of years ago to major eruptions of the last century, including the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull ash cloud. Walk through galleries, experience an earthquake simulator, see a reconstruction of the magma flow beneath Iceland, and step through simulated ash clouds and smoke. A 240° screen shows the surrounding volcanoes erupting one by one, while the cinema screens a short film on recent eruptions. In the foyer, you’ll find live earthquake data, current volcanic activity, and a Northern Lights forecast. After the exhibition, head up to the observation deck for views of the volcanoes you’ve just learned about. Then take a break at the onsite café or browse the gift shop.
