Dolmabahçe Palace, the recent residence of the Ottoman sultans built by architects Karabet and Nikogos Balyan, covers 110,000 m² and also served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. The palace has 285 rooms and 46 halls with extensive collections of European antiquities, furniture, and 4.5-ton chandeliers.
