Once the capital of Spain, it is a spectacular blend of Arab, Jewish, and Christian cultures. Learn about its fantastic heritage and discover how the coexistence of cultures over the centuries has influenced its current architectural style.
Stroll through the courtyard cloisters and the royal coat of arms at the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes. Admire the building, commissioned by Queen Elizabeth of Castile to become a royal mausoleum, the most important building constructed by Catholic monarchs. After the visit, we'll walk to the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca. Originally built as a synagogue, it was expropriated and became a church only 211 years after opening its doors. Today, it's a fantastic Mudéjar-style museum that you'll visit.
Admire El Greco's world-famous painting, The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, in the Church of Santo Tomé. Did you know that Greco himself lived in this wonderful city?
The guided tour will conclude in front of Toledo Cathedral, considered the most important Gothic style in Spain. Afterwards, you'll have free time to explore Toledo on your own before returning to Madrid.
