The Legacy of Winter the Dolphin at Clearwater Beach

Later in the day, you'll visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Its unique facilities feature underwater viewing windows, a hands-on stingray beach, and many other unique animal houses and exhibits that are truly unique. You can also hear about the legacy of Winter the dolphin, who was an abandoned dolphin who became a Hollywood star from the DolphinTail movies!
Not your typical aquarium, Clearwater Marine Aquarium believes in preserving the environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine life; environmental education; research; and conservation.
At the CMA, meet all the rescued and resident animals. Watch some of the daily presentations and be sure to catch the daily theater shows. Boat tours, animal care experiences, and behind-the-scenes tours will add at least an extra hour to your day and can be added at the box office. Enjoy views of Clearwater Bay from the harbor-view deck and the beached deck. Discover a variety of animals, including dolphins, pelicans, sea turtles, otters, sharks, and other animals. Many residents cannot be released for various reasons, so you can visit them in their permanent habitats and learn their stories. See several animals currently undergoing rehabilitation at the working animal hospital. Presentations and lectures throughout the day aim to educate in a fun way about the work being done to care for marine life and the environment. 100% of your visit to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium helps fund our vital mission of rescue, rehabilitation, and release.
After your time at the aquarium, you can spend the afternoon at Clearwater Beach. This white-sand beach has a boardwalk and pier where you can stroll, take a dip in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and simply enjoy your free time.
Returning to Orlando in the afternoon, you will be back in Orlando around 6:30 pm, depending on traffic.
