This region southwest of Paris takes its name from France's longest river, the Loire. During the Renaissance, the Loire Valley was a favorite haunt of the kings of France and their courts, who left us numerous castles of admirable architectural elegance.

The Château d'Amboise is the result of successive military constructions since the 2nd century, due to its elevation and strategic location in the Loire region. It was Charles VIII who transformed the site into an undisputed royal castle, already under the influence of several Italian artists.

It is said that the design of Chambord Castle, built by King Francis I in the 16th century, was heavily influenced by the arrival of Leonardo da Vinci. After construction was completed, the kings did not use the castle for long, and it was then used by other nobles and military personnel.

The Château de Chenonceau (16th century), also known as the Château des Seits Dames, was occupied by queens and lovers of kings during the Renaissance, including Catherine de Medici, Diane de Poitiers (lover of Henry II) and the widow of Henry III, leading to its name.

Property of the Crown and, later, a royal residence, the Château de Chenonceau, one of the most famous Châteaux of the Loire, is a testament to a refined art of living, due to its original design, the richness of its collections, furniture and decoration, as well as its destiny, as it was loved, managed and protected by extraordinary women who left their mark on history.
