Spend half a day visiting the Phutket elephant sanctuary, where the animals can live out their final years roaming freely without being harmed by tourists. Located on 30 acres of lush tropical land bordering Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in northeast Phuket, visiting the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary helps support its mission of compassionate and ethical elephant tourism.
A morning with elephants is an eye-opening and inspiring experience. After a scenic drive through a local village, you'll arrive at the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, a picturesque jungle with lagoons, open fields, and hillsides for elephants to roam.
Your visit begins at our Treetop Reception and Observation Platform. We'll show you a presentation and an educational video to prepare you for your encounter with the elephants and help you understand why they need to be protected.
Next, you'll feed the elephants. While they enjoy their baskets of bananas, pineapples, and cucumbers, you'll have the opportunity to learn about each elephant's story from our guides.
After the elephants are fed, we walk with them through the jungle. By maintaining a safe distance and observing them from our observation rooms, the elephants have the freedom to express their natural behaviors, from bathing and playing in our pond to socializing with each other.
Our top priority is the welfare of elephants.
We do not offer rides, shows, baths, trunk hugs, elephant kisses, sitting or lying on elephants, loud and boisterous groups or people crowding around elephants.
