Colonia del Sacramento City Tour from Montevideo

Departing in the morning for the city of Colonia del Sacramento, located 190 km from Montevideo, we take Route 1 west, passing through San Jose. This department stands out for the quality of its land and climate, making it an ideal location for the establishment of productive and industrial enterprises. It is the second largest dairy producer in the country, behind only Colonia.

Its historic center has been remodeled to welcome domestic and international tourists. Strolling through its cobblestone streets, its museums, and experiencing the peace, history, and elegance make this a must-visit. We'll have a stop of approximately 40 minutes in San José.

Once in Colonia, we entered through the Porta de Campo, built in 1745 at the request of the Portuguese Vasconcellos. We walked along the famous "Calle de los Suspiros" (Calle of Sighs), visited the lighthouse, the basilica, the picturesque Puerto Esportivo (Sporting Port), and the Real de San Carlos, home to the old and now remodeled Plaza de Toros (Torches Ring), built in 1900 to host internationally renowned bullfights, located 5 km from the historic center.
