Full Day Trip to Trunyan

Depart early in the morning for your expedition to explore Bali's ancient areas. This small village is located between the lake and the outer rim of the Mt. Batur crater. It is often referred to as 'Desa Bali Aga' because this village is inhabited by descendants of the original Balinese, people who predate the Hindu Majapahit Kingdom in the 16th century.

Afterwards, cross over to Trunyan village and explore on foot, visiting the temple and its ancient mythical trees, and then continue to Trunyan's final shrine in a traditional wooden canoe paddled by locals as they discuss their passage fees. When a villager dies, the people here simply leave the deceased's body on the ground to decompose naturally; it is said that the corpses have no odor. The villagers attribute this to the scent of the fragrant 'menyan' tree from which Trunyan takes its name—Taru menyan. Then, return around the lake to the top of the caldera and enjoy your lunch with magnificent views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur.
