Discover Volendam, Marken and the windmills in one day
Hop on your transport in central Amsterdam and get ready for the scenic journey from the city to the Dutch countryside.
On the way to several villages in the northern Netherlands, listen to your audio guide and enjoy the views, including dikes and polders, areas of land reclaimed from the water.
Your first stop will be Zaanse Schans, a beautiful town on the banks of the Zaan River and a popular destination for its well-preserved windmills, some dating back to the 17th century. Then, continue to Volendam and Marken, admiring a picturesque scene of fishing boats and locals in traditional Dutch costume.
In addition to approximately 45-minute stops in each town, you'll visit a nearby cheese farm for a demonstration and a taste of their dairy production.
After taking plenty of photos, the 5-hour tour ends with a bus ride back to central Amsterdam.
