Caesarea, Haifa, Acre and Rosh Hanikra - 1 Day Tour

Leave Tel Aviv and follow the Mediterranean coastal highway to Caesarea, where Herod built a splendid port, which he dedicated to Augustus Caesar. The ruins of the Crusader city, the Hippodrome, a Byzantine street with giant headless statues, and the Roman aqueduct are among the archaeological finds at the site. Stroll through Haifa to see the port and the magnificent Baha'i shrine and gardens. Visit Rosh Hanikra to see the caves and grottoes created by the sea, and finally, Acre to see the Crusader Underground City, the Knights' Halls, and the authentic market.

Itinerary:

Travel along the Mediterranean Sea along the coastal highway to your first stop in Caesarea, once the largest city in Judea. Here, on the ruins of an ancient harbor, Herod built a splendid harbor, which he dedicated to Augustus Caesar.

See the Roman amphitheater with wonderful acoustics that is still used today for concerts, the ruins of the Crusader City; the Hippodrome, a Byzantine street with giant headless statues; and the Roman Aqueduct, which are among the archaeological finds at the site.

Continue driving north through Haifa to stop and enjoy the panoramic view of the magnificent Baha'i shrine and gardens. Terraced gardens slope down the mountain toward the city and Israel's largest port, filled with colorful flowers and landscapes.

The next stop is Rosh Hanikra, the northernmost point of Israel's Mediterranean coast, near the Lebanese border. Take a cable car down to the network of limestone caves created by the constant crashing of waves against the rocks.

On the return journey south, stop in Acre (Akko), the largest Crusader city in Israel. See the walls and moat, rebuilt and repaired by El Jazzar, which prevented even Napoleon from conquering the city; the prison used under Turkish rule; and the gallows later used under the British Mandate to hang Jews who violated British law restricting Jewish immigration to Palestine after World War II.

We will visit the Knights' Halls, the Crusaders' Underground City, and the authentic White Market, which offers oriental food and spices.

At the end of the day, return to the departure hotel.
