The Hill of Uisneach is the spiritual center of Ireland and undoubtedly one of our most important ancient sites. It is the meeting place of the five provinces of Ireland and where their kings celebrated the festival of fires.
Visitors can see the site where St. Fechin founded a Christian monastery in the 7th century. It is believed that before his death, 300 monks lived in the community. The monastery later burned down 12 times. Among the ruins on the site, visitors can see St. Fechin's church, built around 900 AD.
Near Loughcrew, the site of several 5,000-year-old Neolithic passage tombs. Get closer to prehistory at these cairns, with their still-intact rock art lavishly decorating the interior walls, built more than 500 years before the first pyramids.
Trim Castle is the best-preserved and most impressive example of Anglo-Norman castles in Ireland. It offers a spectacular glimpse into the lives and traditions of medieval people.
We travel to The Hill of Tara, best known as the royal residence of the ancient High Kings who ruled Ireland in Celtic times and beyond. It is said that a quarter of Ireland's landscape can be seen from this hill. Enjoy this spectacular view before returning to the capital.
