The Battle of Britain Monument is dedicated to the heroic and selfless deeds of the men who won the Battle of Britain, from July 10 to October 31, 1940. The central figure sits on a propeller surrounded by the insignia of all the Allied squadrons and other units that participated in the battle. The propeller blades are embedded in the ground, making the monument as impressive from the air as it is to the visitor on the ground.

Overlooking the River Thames, Greenwich is a stunning World Heritage Site filled with magnificent maritime monuments. See the Old Royal Naval College designed by Sir Christopher Wren and the world-famous Cutty Sark, a fascinating 19th-century sailing ship.
