Founded in 1957 by former dictator Alfredo Stroessner, Ciudad del Este is the second most populous city in Paraguay, with 150,000 inhabitants. Its commercial center boasts approximately 3,500 shops, hundreds of street vendors, importers, transportation companies, exchange bureaus, some of the world's most famous banks, and a wealth of colorful handicrafts. Ciudad del Este is a shopper's paradise.

After crossing the bridge, we will go to Shopping Paris, which will be our meeting point. From there, we will have 5 hours to do our shopping or simply to discover the unique atmosphere of this incredible city.

The large business boom attracted Arabs, Koreans, Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, Brazilians, and Argentinians, who established their businesses there, transforming Ciudad del Este into a cosmopolitan center with dozens of different languages.

Mingling with these people, we can easily find the Maka Indians, who sell their colorful handicrafts, their unique way of subsistence. It's not difficult to see them set up on any sidewalk with their products.
