The city of Aparecida is located in the Vale do Paraíba region, 166 km from the city of São Paulo. There is the National Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, the largest Marian sanctuary in the world, which annually receives seven million pilgrims and is considered the largest Marian sanctuary in the world.
